LO RAYS
Glasgow-based modern pop-metal band Lo Rays blends catchy hooks, glitchy synths and metal riffs. Known for their post-apocalyptic visuals and DIY green screen videos, the band has built a strong online following — including an Instagram reel that drew over 1.4 million views. They have recently joined the Denmark-based rock and metal label Prime Collective.
As 2025 closes, Lo Rays is fresh from their first European show at Pro Weekend Fest in Spain and a London performance supporting Mimi Barks at Alyx Holcombe’s MANTRA gig night. Before the year ends, they’ll play Venom Fest in Newcastle and the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in Glasgow. Earlier in 2025, they were named “One to Watch” by BBC Introducing Rock on Radio 1 and nominated for “Act of the Year” by BBC Introducing Scotland. Their tracks have received regular airplay from Alyx Holcombe, Nels Hylton, and BBC Radio Scotland.
Known for their high-energy, theatrical performances — featuring dancers, vintage VHS-screen visuals, and post-apocalyptic storylines — Lo Rays have supported acts such as I See Stars, VUKOVI, and North Atlas. They’ve also played The Alternative Escape, as part of The Great Escape, along with Scottish festivals Bute Fest and Red Crust Festival.
Finnish songwriter Laura Takala formed Lo Rays in 2018 after moving to Glasgow to follow her dream to make music in the footsteps of her heroes Biffy Clyro. She met Scott Bathgate (guitar), Ryan Jones (bass) and Murray Bartle (drums) at a local gig.
