Uninvited formed after vocalist and bassist Taylor-Ray Dillon (she/her) and vocalist and guitarist Gillian Dhlakama (they/them) met as solo acoustic artists. With a little help from Instagram, the pair later became connected with guitarist Bex Young (they/them) and drummer Fiorenza Cocozza (she/her).
In 2022 Uninvited appeared at Belladrum Tartan Heart, 110 Above Festival, Reading & Leeds Festivals in the UK and at Misty Fields Festival in the Netherlands. In September, Gill, Taylor, Bex and Fiorenza embarked on their first-ever UK headline tour and visited Bristol, sold out London and Manchester before returning to Glasgow for their first-sold out show. A new Glasgow date was added at King Tuts in December due to phenomenal demand.
Before winning the Live Lounge competition, Uninvited saw an outpouring of support from BBC Introducing Scotland, Punktastic, Distorted Sound, When The Horn Blows, LOCK Magazine, Uber Rock, Tenement TV and others from their debut and follow-up singles. Their debut single “Tomboy” is an important landmark for Uninvited who became aware that they themselves could be the change they wanted to see, writing music that pushes the LGBTQ+ conversation into the male-dominated indie atmosphere - a multidimensional reclamation of their early queer experiences in a shimmering pop-rock package.
