CONSTANT FOLLOWER

Self-described as soaring-ambient-dreampop-experimental-folk, Constant Follower is the band formed around Scottish songwriter Stephen McAll. As a teenager, McAll survived an attack by a gang that left him with a catastrophic head injury and every memory of his childhood gone. The next decade was spent in a cabin on Scotland’s Western coastline, where he eventually began composing again. The result is a childhood imagined against a backdrop that, like the sea, is as serene as it is wild; ever-changing, yet resolute. Co-produced by McAll and renowned producer Kramer (Low, Galaxie 500, Will Oldham), their debut album ‘Neither Is, Nor Ever Was’, was released on the legendary Shimmy Disc imprint on October 1st 2021, and has been championed by KEXP, WFMU, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio Scotland. "It's one of the most beautiful records I have ever been privileged to be a part of, filled to the very brim with moment after moment of poetic clarity, and not a moment too late." Kramer

Recently Cécile supported Gregory Porter on his UK tour and performed with Guy Barker's BBC Orchestra on BBC4 for the London Jazz Festival opening gala concert. HAMISH HAWK

Rich of voice and even richer of imagination, the singer-songwriter from Edinburgh creates musical pen-portraits as vivid in lyric as they are in melody. In all the wholly best ways, these are chamber pop songs that have swallowed both a dictionary and a compendium of modern urban (and island) fairy tales. And, on Heavy Elevator, his first fully-formed album, this prolific artist presents a perfect ten tracks packed with characters, incident, emotion, geographical/artistic references and tunes to hang your coat on.

Joesef is a young soul, with an old soul, who's mastered new soul.

Glaswegian, singer-songwriter Joesef has been making waves in the UK music scene since 2019.

With notes of Motown, hip hop, and jazz, the soulful musician draws early influence from the likes of Al Green and the dance culture of east end Glasgow.

KT TUNSTALL

Sitting, eyes closed in the sunshine in Nashville’s Centennial Park in Spring 2017 on tour, KT Tunstall had an epiphany. It encompassed both her last album, ‘KIN’, that entered the UK top 10 in 2016, and her as-yet-unrecorded sixth studio album.

There were some things she knew instantly. That moving to Los Angeles, whence she had relocated from London in autumn 2014, had been a life-saving move. That she was now in the midst of a trilogy of records, the latest exciting chapter in a career fuelled by a rocket-powered lift- off with 2004’s ‘Eye To The Telescope’, her debut album which won the post- folkie from Scotland the Brit Award for Best British Female. That this trilogy would evoke, separately and in sequence, spirit, body and mind. That ‘KIN’ was already, happily, her spirit album.

MEMES

Hailed for their frenetic, furiously-infectious brand of indie-punk, MEMES are cousins John and Paul McLinden. Formed in 2019 with a name that adeptly mirrored the sardonic sense of fun to be found in their laptop-rock creations, the band released their self-titled debut EP on Fierce Panda Records less than a year later and have been twisting heads ever since.

Performing virtually at festivals from SXSW, to The Great Escape, Wide Days and c/o pop in Germany, MEMES have quickly earned a reputation for their sensory blitzing shows and unconventional stylistics; earning praise from key supporters including Pitchfork, The Skinny, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, KEXP, Amazing Radio, BBC Radio Scotland and many more.

PARLIAMO

With a heady live-reputation preceding them, Parliamo have already been hailed as one of Scotland’s most exciting young prospects. Backed by radio in the UK (BBC 6Music, Radio Scotland, Radio X) and in the US (via KEXP), their self-proclaimed brand of ‘underground pop’ is already turning a lot of heads. Parliamo are a true breath of fresh air, and without doubt ones to watch in 2022.

RIANNE DOWNEY

Country-indie lullabies with bite, sent to listeners from the equally beautiful and brutally honest heart of Scotland. Music to help us all get by when life isn’t easy.

With songs like Fuel To The Flame and Stand My Ground, the growing artist makes her first, big statements. They are her gentle way of raising a middle finger, then throwing it in the faces of every drag that ever pulled her down and banishing almost every thought of doubt she’d cast her own way.

WALT DISCO

Walt Disco are a band who defy all convention to create a world of their own, truly like no other. Their fearless, unique pop songs are created without constraint, with a message of  self expression at the very core of everything they do.

Blending a cacophony of sounds ranging from new wave and glam rock to queer modern  art-pop, the Glasgow-based sextet’s youthful songs are as much dancefloor fillers as they  are anthemic earworms. With a penchant for memorable songs which resonate across  generations, vocalist and band leader James Potter writes earnest lyrics about self exploration and love in the digital age.
