Strategic cultural projects such as the European Capital of Culture or similar Cultural Cities endeavour, go hand-in-hand with infrastructure investments, which can permanently re-shape the face and reputation of a city. How can these initiatives deliver legacy benefits for everyone including the wider public and grassroots operators, as well well-resourced, established organisations? And can private companies and individual professionals be integrated into these strategic projects, in order to develop a diverse and complementary cultural infrastructure.
Speakers include: Márton Náray(SoundCzech), Lucia Dubačová(Creative Institute Trenčín / Trenčín 2026 - European Capital of Culture), Kamau Makumi (Musician / Producer) and Codruta Vulcu (ARTmania Festival).

Thu 19 Jan | 12:30 - 12:50 CEST

Hailing from Inverness in the Scottish Highlands and currently working in a coffee shop, Katie Gregson-MacLeod’s candid songwriting ability and stunning vocals have already captured a global audience. Katie has received support from BBC Music Introducing, Radio 1 and BBC Scotland, with Vic Galloway naming her one of BBC Scotland’s 25 Artists to Watch in 2022.
VLURE
Wed 18 Jan | 23:45 - 00:30 CEST
Venue: VERA 📍 Oosterstraat 44, 9711 NV Groningen
Live shows serve as a kind of emotional release, Conor Goldie once said in an interview. With this statement, VLURE’s guitarist describes not only his own experiences but also that of his fans when the band performs songs like "Show Me How to Live Again" or "I Won't Run (From Love)" live on stage. Like most bands, the lockdowns have taken their toll on VLURE as well, but the five-piece from Glasgow has used the time to apply the finishing touches to their very own post punk revival – with great success. As sharp as obsidian, the results that can be heard on their debut EP "Euphoria" portray a band that draws inspiration from Echo & The Bunnymen as well as from 90s techno or industrial but manages to create something entirely novel from these influences. Lustfully wasteful but with an amazing sense for epic riffs, VLURE are an absolute force on stage, crying out for real change in this stagnant era.
