Sam Dillon

Sam is a Solicitor in Harper Macleod’s Corporate, Commercial & Regulatory team, specialising in intellectual property. He advises on trade mark protection, brand management, anti‑counterfeiting strategies and commercial contracts, alongside broader IP matters such as copyright, patents and design rights.

Sam works extensively with clients across the cultural and creative industries, providing contractual and commercial support to musicians, performers and other rights‑holders. His work includes drafting and negotiating agreements, advising on rights exploitation and helping clients navigate the commercial challenges of the digital and creative economy.

Harper Macleod continues to advise the Musicians’ Union on its campaign for equitable remuneration from streaming and, more recently, on the use of music in AI. Sam contributes to this work as part of the firm’s wider music and creative practice, drawing on Harper Macleod’s longstanding experience in supporting creators and organisations across Scotland’s cultural landscape.
