PHIL TAGGART

PRESENTER - BBC RADIO 1

Phil Taggart is one of the young faces tearing up the nighttime on BBC Radio 1. Having started out hosting BBC Introducing in Northern Ireland as part of Radio 1’s regional output, Phil joined the main BBC Radio 1 programming in January 2013 as one half of the 10pm – Midnight specialist music show, co-hosting with fellow DJ Alice Levine. In February 2015, with Annie Mac moving to take over Zane Lowe’s weeknight slot, Phil took over her weekly 3-hour Sunday night show. Phil currently presents The Chillest Show on Sunday at 7pm and the Hype Chart on a Tuesday morning.

As well as his work for BBC Radio 1, Phil has worked as a presenter as part of BBC Three’s coverage of Radio 1 Big Weekend and as the host of Channel 4’s new music show Best Before. He is also part of the presenter line up for the online music platform Vevo, hosting their VVV music magazine show and the new artist segment Vevo Lift.

Outside of his work as a TV and radio presenter, Phil remains very active in the music industry, running his own independent record label, Hometown Records, and hosting a monthly clubnight called Slacker, which showcases new and emerging alternative acts.
