Nicola Phillips

Head of International PR
Embassy of Music

Nicola Phillips is head of international PR at Berlin's leading independent record label Embassy of Music (previously Ministry of Sound Germany) – best known for their work with artists such as Björk, Robyn, and Moby.

Hailing from Liverpool, UK, Nicola landed in Berlin around 5 years ago drawn to the thriving music scene and quickly found herself immersed in the ever-evolving soundscape. Determined to pursue her passion for music, blogging and brutalist architecture she quickly got involved with a variety of projects collaborating with independent publications from Flaneur Magazine to Polaroid Originals' Magazine.

But it was her role at KALTBLUT Magazine – Germany’s leading print and online magazine for art, fashion, and music with a focus on the LGBTQIA+ community – that offered her the opportunity to carve out her new career in creative communications. Photographing events and artists alongside the interviews that she conducted she developed their fledgling music section to become what Culture Trip described as one of the "coolest Berlin music magazines" to watch out for.

In 2019 she also joined the team as Music Editor at upstart publication HART Magazine, a bi-annual magazine for post fetishism and queer culture. Nicola shares her birthday with Annie Lennox, which is great – since she’s right up there in her Top 10.
