Lockdown Live Streams - Our Top Picks

The past few months(!) of lockdown have certainly taken some adjusting to, and have created all sorts of new challenges for the music community.

But they’ve also provided some opportunities to take fresh approaches to the way we work and live our lives. Something we’ve been particularly enjoying here at (virtual) Wide HQ is the chance to check out a load of brilliant virtual events, webinars and workshops hosted by friends from across the business. So, we thought we’d give you a run-down of our team’s top picks to save you the bother of trawling the web for the cream of the crop…

IQ Focus

The team behind the International Live Music Conference and International Festival Forum recently launched a weekly chat-show looking at the impact of Coronavirus on the international live music sector. The sessions are super insightful, bringing some really insightful opinions and outlooks from some of the worlds top concert promoters. They broadcast live via YouTube, meaning you can watch them afterwards if you can’t tune in live. Dig in!

Music Ally TV Show

Music Ally is at the forefront of all things digital combining consulting, events, training and an excellent daily newsletter. It’s no surprise then, that its weekly webinars offer brilliant insights from people who really know what they are talking about. We particularly recommend checking out the #brokenrecordspecial which is a much-needed reality check on streaming royalties and has a particularly good contribution from digital consultant Sammy Andrews.

AIM: Lunch & Learn

Our partners the Association of Independent Music have thrown themselves head-first into running virtual events. Within the first week or so of lockdown, they managed to move their AIM Sync conference from being a physical conference to a fully virtual event - and only last week, hosted their entire Great Escape AIM House programme online. Respect.

In addition to those, they’ve also been running weekly Lunch and Learn webinars, giving their members the chance to brush up on some useful stuff - from getting to grips with the Official Charts Company to Optimising your presence on Bandcamp. They’ve got it all covered, and it’s completely free for AIM members.
