Youth Confirmed as Keynote

Martin “Youth” Glover has been confirmed for the keynote interview at this year’s Wide Days, which takes place in Edinburgh on 22-23 April. The legendary producer, writer and artist will be in conversation with the event’s founder, Olaf Furniss, and will talk about his career, numerous collaborations and forthcoming exhibition.

Starting out as the bass player for intense post-punks Killing Joke, Youth has gone on to work with a hugely diverse range of acts including Pink Floyd, The Orb, Primal Scream, The Verve, U2, Texas, Paul McCartney, Bananarama, and Guns’N’Roses. Moreover, he was a pioneer of electronic music focusing on Goa and Psy trance, via his Butterfly and Dragonfly record labels.

“Youth is an amazing addition to our programme and brings an incredible insight into music and other art forms,” says Furniss. “It is rare to get a perspective from someone who is a musician, producer and co-writer – as well as a visual artist.”

In addition to the keynote, which is supported by PRS and the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA), he will also take part in the A&R You Brave Enough? feedback session.

In 2015 Youth published the Anarchist Colouring Book, featuring a selection of his illustrations and in September he hosts the Puretone ambient arts festival at his El Mirador studio complex in Granada, Spain. A documentary about Youth’s career is due to be released later this year.
