Lecturer, University of Stirling

Dr Melissa Avdeeff is a Digital Media Lecturer and Musicologist at the University of Stirling with over ten years’ experience designing classes on popular music, media, and technology at higher education institutions in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Within her diverse research topics, Melissa is primarily interested in exploring how people perceive and use emerging AI technologies in the production of popular music. She regularly presents her research internationally at conferences and guest lectures.

As someone who values the importance of community and collaboration, Melissa has taken on a number of roles to support the international community of popular music scholars and practitioners through the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM), as well as serving on the editorial board for the IASPM Journal.
