DERICK MACKINNON
NEW FOUND SOUND
Beginning his career as a musician, Derick Mackinnon formed his own agency New Found Sound in 2006, (live music promoter and marketing company) and was one of the founders of Wide Days back in 2010.
With over 11 years experience as a music journalist, he co-writes a weekly new music feature in the Scotland On Sunday newspaper.
He learned much of his trade working for music entrepreneur Keren McKean (Snow Patrol, Electric Fields festival), managing experiential music marketing campaigns, and programming festivals and managing tours for brands such as; Miller Genuine Draft, Guinness and Kopparberg.
At present, Derick co-runs revolutionary new gig swapping and touring network, Off Axis. The organisation have their own festival stages at Kendal Calling (England), XpoNorth (Scotland) and help bands organise concerts in over 75 towns and cities throughout the UK.
In addition, Derick is the Marketing and Press Officer at Scottish Music Centre, a membership organisation with two youth music projects for 14-19 year olds interested in music - Hit The Road and Musicplus+
