Scottish National Party

Alison is the SNP candidate for Edinburgh Central and a teacher at East Craigs Primary School, previously Ferryhill. Before entering the profession, Alison was Private Secretary to the Presiding Officer and a civil servant in the Scottish Parliament for 10 years. She was notable as co-ordinator in the team that organised the Holyrood building’s opening ceremony - working with 600 performers in the process.

Alison has a BSc Hons in International Relations and an HND in Administration and Information Management. She is married with two sons and Edinburgh Central has been her home for 17 years.

Alison plays guitar and has led an after school guitar club for two years. Through school and 16 years of voluntary youth work, she has been involved in music and performance in different ways.  As such, Alison is a strong advocate for music tuition remaining free in schools.  Alison also plays weekly in her Church band.
