Alex Knight

A&R, FatCat Records

In 1989 Alex Knight  co-founded the Fat Cat record shop, going on to establish the record company of the same name. The Brighton-based label boasts an eclectic selection of artists ranging from songwriters to contemporary classical composers, and techno to Malian Takamba.

Early signings included Icelandic acts Sigur Rós and Mum, and in recent years several Scottish artists have joined the roster including the Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpack and a highlight from last year’s Wide Days showcase programme, PAWS. Fat Cat was also home to Frightened Rabbit before the band signed to Atlantic.

Boasting an office in the US, Fat Cat has succeeded in establishing many artists Stateside.
