Mexico-Scotland-Wales Online Music Professional Exchange

Throughout the pandemic Scotland’s Wide Events, continued to bring together the music business community with Wide Days convention, Born To Be Wide evenings, Off The Record youth day and artist mentoring programme all taking place online.

This led to a range of international partnerships in 2021 including SXSW, c-o pop and Dutch Music Export, introducing Scottish professionals and artists to their peers in North America, Germany and The Netherlands.

Building on this experience, the company has partnered with Focus Wales and Mexico City’s record shop and label, La Roma Records, to connect a cross-section of music media, music industry and export-ready artists. Supported by the Four Nations International Fund, administered by Creative Scotland, the initiative will facilitate and maintain connections between the three countries, with a view to developing both remote (eg licensing, media coverage, sync) and in-person collaborations (eg festivals, tours and song-writing camps).

It will bring together 60 industry professionals and artists for a half-day online event including market presentations, low-speed meetings, match-making and artist introduction, and will end with a quiz. Participants will provide a short biography, contact details, priority sectors they would like to connect with and join a WhatsApp and LinkedIn group set up to establish the community.
