David studied Music Business Administration at West Lothian College before heading to London in ’96 with a job offer from Virgin Records. At Virgin he worked in the International Marketing department, helping co-ordinate campaigns for artists such as Daft Punk, Spice Girls and Massive Attack, before taking the unusual decision to move into journalism.
,He wrote for music trade mags fono, Music Week and Music Business International before helping found the digital trade publication Record of the Day in 2002. David still contributes weekly to RotD as an industry commentator, though his day job is working with independent artists and record labels at the Hamburg-based distributor and label services company finetunes.
