Edinburgh-born Tom Ferguson is a Performer Services Executive at PPL, the music licensing/collective management organisation which collects and distributes royalties for performers and record companies generated by the use of recorded music in broadcast and public performance. A former International Editor of global music industry magazine Billboard, Tom joined PPL in June 2012; his role largely focuses on tracing ‘missing in action’ performers or their beneficiaries to ensure they receive their royalties. In that role, Tom draws on experience and contacts from his 40+ years in the music industry – having worked as a performer (an archive album of material by his 1980s band A Close Watch was released in 2018) and in record distribution/labels, PR and journalism.
