Brighton Bound - Wide Days at TGE18!

May has rolled around as quickly as ever, and once again the Wide Days office is decamping to (hopefully) sunny Brighton for a packed few days of meetings, parties, new pals and tons of great music.

Following the success of the Scottish soiree we hosted with Creative Scotland last year, we’ll be inviting our friends from across the world back to the Old Ship Hotel on Thursday 17 for the least healthy Scottish cuisine we can lay our hands on (think haggis, chips and of course, deep-fried mars bars!), as well as a couple of intimate whisky tastings in the hotel’s 300-year old smugglers’ cellar - you can RSVP for the party here.

When we launched Wide Days, the aim of our showcases was to give a helping hand to what we considered to be the most exciting emerging acts in the country that year. We wanted to get them in front of the international industry, and help them build a career reaching beyond Scotland. In recent years, it’s been incredible to see many of the artists like Honeyblood, Fatherson, PAWS, C Duncan, Be Charlotte, Catholic Action, Emmett Woods (and many more) going on to showcases and tour across the world.

The Great Escape offers a really important gateway for the showcase acts to be seen by festival bookers and international talent buyers - so we’re delighted several former Wide Days acts are playing this year. These include Declan Welsh and the Decadent West, The Ninth Wave, The Spook School and The Vegan Leather.

From this year’s line-up both Rascalton and Lucia will be making their way to Brighton, playing the official Scottish showcase at Horatio’s on Thursday.

Moreover, Wide Days 2017 act VISTAS are playing the festival, and one of 2018’s highlights, WuhOh will be kicking-off proceedings at the Antidote Booking bill on Wednesday evening at the Hope & Ruin.
