BACKGROUND 

 

Wide Days was launched in 2010 providing a forum for Scottish music business and artists to connect with the international industry.

In 2014 it was named Best Networking Event at the Yearly Music Convention Awards, was runner up in the same category in 2015 and was also nominated for Best Convention Venue in 2016. 

Wide Days has attracted key music industry players from the UK, US, Norway, Iceland and the Netherlands, and in 2014 featured a special focus on the German music market. Moreover, the conference was used to launch of the Music Venue Trust, the Off Axis gigging network and establish a green festivals network in Scotland.

Wide Days 2016 included showcases by Be Charlotte, who is set to perform at Eurosonic, SXSW and The Great Escape 2017, as well as Elle Exxe, who was crowned “Best Female Solo Act” at the Unsigned Music Awards. In 2015, Kathryn Joseph went on to win the Scottish Album of the Year Award and C Duncan was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Honeyblood, PAWS and Garden Of Elks, were all signed as a result of playing at the event.

 

A CONVENTION PROGRAMME LIKE NO OTHER

Wide Days brings the the full spectrum of music industry professionals together to discuss a range of topics, present new initiatives and highlight some of the most forward-thinking work being carried out across the business. 

The convention aims to give a platform to new industry speakers, with a more diverse and balanced line-up than most other conventions.

SHOWCASING SCOTLAND'S BEST EMERGING TALENT

The Wide Days showcase programme takes place across 3 of the cities main music venues in the evening of Friday 20 April. Focusing on the quality over quantity, the showcases shine a spotlight on 7 of the country's most exciting emerging acts from across the musical spectrum. Previous acts include Honeyblood, Fatherson, C Duncan, Kathryn Joseph, The Ninth Wave, Be Charlotte and many more... 


NETWORKING, TOUR & TASTING

The Saturday of Wide Days is dedicated to showing you a good time, and giving you a chance to see Edinburgh, sample some whisky and hang out with other delegates. We'll take you on a bus tour of the city, followed by a lunch, some light entertainment and a guided whisky tasting. We'll then hit the record shops of Edinburgh to celebrate Record Store Day.

There might even be some more whisky to sample..
